Southland Conference (SLC)

The Southland Conference (SLC) is a Division I collegiate athletic league operating in the South Central United States, primarily Texas and Louisiana. It competes in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) for football and sponsors 18 sports across men’s and women’s programs.

Established with a focus on regional competition, the SLC has evolved over time, including a brief period (1996-2002) when its football division was known as the Southland Football League. The conference is governed by a Board of Directors and an Advisory Council, with Chris Grant serving as commissioner since April 2022.

Headquartered in Frisco, Texas, the SLC underwent a rebranding in 2023, introducing a new logo while retaining its original name. This refresh reflects the conference’s commitment to staying current while honoring its established identity in collegiate athletics.

The Southland Conference continues to provide a competitive platform for its member institutions, contributing to the rich landscape of college sports in the South Central region.
