Patriot League Conference

The Patriot League is a selective NCAA Division I athletic conference in the Northeastern United States, comprising private institutions and two U.S. service academies. Known for its high student-athlete graduation rates, it’s second only to the Ivy League in academic selectivity among Division I conferences.

The league has 10 core members: American, Army, Boston University, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh, Loyola Maryland, and Navy. While all participate in Division I, not all compete in every sport within the Patriot League.

Five members (Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, and Lehigh) compete in Patriot League football at the FCS level. Army and Navy play FBS football, with Army joining the American Athletic Conference in 2024, where Navy is already an associate member. The remaining three institutions don’t sponsor football.

This diverse structure allows the Patriot League to balance academic excellence with competitive athletics across various sports and divisions.
