Pac-12 Conference
The Pac-12 Conference is a prestigious collegiate athletic league in the Western United States, comprising 12 universities across six states. Known as the “Conference of Champions,” it has earned more NCAA team championships than any other conference.
Founded in 1959 as the Athletic Association of Western Universities, it evolved through various names before becoming the Pac-12 in 2011 with the addition of Colorado and Utah. The conference includes each state’s flagship public university, other public institutions, and two private research universities.
Pac-12 members compete in NCAA Division I, with football teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Stanford, UCLA, and USC lead in NCAA team championships, contributing significantly to the conference’s 500+ titles.
However, the Pac-12 faces a major transition, with ten members set to depart in August 2024, leaving it as a two-team conference for the 2024-25 academic year.
