Big Sky Conference

The Big Sky Conference is a Division I collegiate athletic league spanning eight Western states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. It competes in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) for football.

As of 2023, the conference includes full members across these states, with two additional California schools participating solely in football. This geographic diversity reflects the conference’s broad Western focus, encompassing a variety of institutions across the American West.

The Big Sky provides a platform for competition in various NCAA Division I sports, with football as a key component of its athletic program. Its FCS status in football distinguishes it from some other Western athletic conferences that compete at the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level.
